"Between the Two"
A Short Doc

Between the Two is a short doc that Jonathan Lue and I created for the Art of Documentary "one-day doc challenge," which inspired us to share the unique dynamic of Candy Yiu & Akshay Dua at The Turning Peel. We shot this film observationally, with an emphasis on allowing the scenes to breathe. To do this, we choose to stay entirely on sticks and patiently wait for moments to unfold in front of us. I chose to use a vintage Vivitar 35-105mm lens for the project, which gave the film a unique look and allowed me to capture a variety of coverage from one vantage point. We also chose to minimally light a few of the locations to enhance the visuals, while keeping it out of the way of the characters.
